Roof Shingles, Rack and Red Roofs. Basement Remodeling, Waterproofing and
Finishing
Roofing shingles are flat
or curved tiles that interlock and overlap in a way that channels
water off a pitched roof. Shingles are made from materials that
vary in cost, weight, durability, color, and architectural style.
In roofing a house with tiles, one would want to consider their
budget, climate, the roof's pitch, and how they would like the end
result to compliment their home's design.
The use of shingles is reserved for roofs with sloping
sides that are steep enough to shed water into a gutter system by
gravity alone. There are other roofing materials, such as metal
flashing or sheets of PVC, that would be appropriate for flat or
shallow roofs. |

| Waterproof your basement
and utilize that space for the always wanted recreation room, family
room, extra bedroom and add value to your home.
When the environment inside the basement is warm
it dries the internal surfaces of the basement and creates suction
through the porous concrete therefore absorbing humidity or water
through the walls and floors. As a result of this you have wet
sweaty walls or a wet floor.
A basement in a home should be protected from water
by its design and accompanying infrastructure. Surrounding soil
should slope away from the home's base, with gutters or drain
pipes redirecting water to other areas. When one of those safeguards
fail - or builders/homeowners fail to utilize them - water begins
to seep in without being noticed.
There are several symptoms that a basement is leaking
before water pools on its floor. The basement walls will feel
damp or wet or dusty and cold to the touch - a key sign the home's
foundation and walls are absorbing water. Hairline cracks in paint
or plaster also indicate basement walls are absorbing water. Bubbles
under the paint will also indicate humidity intrusion. It is only
a matter of time after a home's low-lying walls and foundation
are saturated and water pools on the basement floor. When water
is found on the basement floor, the house has probably been leaking
for some time. Water on the floor means that the walls at the
base and the bottom of the floor are soaked in water and the pressure
starts pushing the water through the concrete into the house.
Water on the floor means the foundation of the footing
of your house is wet. This can cause other problems if not addressed
properly. Stagnant water can promote mold growth in the basement,
causing a musty smell and often illnesses like allergies for the
home's residents. Excessive humidity can create mold in the wood
and propagate through out the house. Water causes the walls and
floors to shift because it provides a soft ground. As water seeps
and collects below the foundation, it can soften the soil and
even cause part of a house to sink. Fortunately, even when homes
begin to shift, most houses can be dried out. The fixes can be
simple and inexpensive or can be complex, requiring a specialist
in the problem. Each problem is unique to each structure.
We specialized in prevention and repairing of basements
that show initial humidity and water symptoms.
