Step 1: Remove all cover
plates, or any items that may interfere with patching your hole. Remove
any loose pieces, dirt and dust from the hole area.
Step 2: Use drywall tape or
adhesive mesh tape, found at
Hardware store or your
local hardware store. Be sure to cover the full crack using multiple
strips if necessary.

Applying Drywall Compound |
Step 3: Apply joint compound
(a.k.a. drywall compound, or plaster wall fix) with a joint taping knife,
medium sized putty knife or scraper. Smooth and feather out the surface
with your knife. Feathering
helps blend the slightly higher seams into the wall surface.
Step 4: Allow the patch to
dry thoroughly and then sand it to a smooth surface. Use #220 grit
sandpaper. Rap sand paper around a sanding block or piece of wood to
prevent digging into the newly patched surface.
Step 5: Apply an additional
layer of plaster compound if necessary, feathering outward to help blend
seams. Once dry, sand smooth as before.

Priming and Finish Paint Coat |
Step 6: After sanding, remove
all plaster dust with a Tack
cloth. Prime the plaster patch with
Ben Moore primer, to seal
the patch and prepare the surface for your finished coat of paint. Allow
to dry completely.
Step 7: Paint over primer
with your appropriate wall color. Allow to dry, then replace any cover
plates, pictures, etc.
Your completed wall!
Step 8: Clean brushes up
with warm, soapy water (latex paints).
